National Level ToT programme on NAPDDR for Transgender and FSW communities held from 12th -13th September 2019 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre,

The National Level ToT programme on NAPDDR for Transgender and FSW communities was organized by National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi from 12th - 13th September 2019. The programme was inaugurated by the Mrs. Radhika Chakravarty, Joint Secretary, S.D. Bureau, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment. Earlier, Dr. Veerendra Mishra, Director NISD welcomed all the participants and dignitaries of the programme.

The main objectives of the programme was to orient the participants on effective implementation of NAPDDR programmes; empower participants with knowledge, skills and aptitude to alleviate the consequences of drug dependence amongst individuals, family and society at large; strengthen the technical and managerial capacity of partners linked to transgender & FSW interventions and to initiate the arrangements to broad base NAPDDR activities with quality in their respective states by ensuring best service delivery among the transgender & FSW towards Drug Demand Reduction.

Totally 27 transgender & FSW people representing various states attended the above programmes. All the drug abuse related issues and its interventions were clearly explained by eminent Resource Persons from AIIMS, Delhi School of Social Work and Lady Hardinge Medical College. Roles and responsibilities for implementing the NAPDDR programmes in their respective states also were clearly discussed. The participants were of view that the programme was highly beneficial. During the valedictory programme, Smt. Neelam Swahney IAS, Secretary, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment, GoI delivered valedictory address and interacted with all the participants.
