Font Installation Guide for Mangal Font |
Do you see boxes, or junk characters, when you go to the NISD Hindi Website ? If you see junk characters, set the View->Encoding to UTF-8. You'll start seeing the Hindi characters, or boxes. If you see boxes, it means the browser is not able to find a UTF-8 encoded font to display the characters, so it just replaces the missing "glyphs" or shape , with boxes. It is not able to find the font because the font is not installed on the machine. If this is the case, you can install the font using our attached font installer (Mangal_setup.EXE). After running the installer, you will have the font 'Mangal' in your Windows Fonts folder. Download Mangal font Download and installation instructions : 1. On clicking on the above link, you will get a dialog box similar to this :
2. In the dialog box, click on 'Save',
3. In the next dialog box that follows, select a location in your hard disk (for example, 'Desktop'), and click on 'Save'
4. Now, minimize all open applications / windows, and go to the location on your hard disk where you have just saved 'mangal_setup.exe' (for example, 'Desktop').
5. Open the installer 'mangal_setup.exe'. The installer will run as shown below :
6. Click on 'Next' 7. The font will be installed as shown below :
7. Click on 'Finish'. "Mangal" font in now installed and available in your computer.
The script-encoding-font mapping is required to be set in the browser now. follow these instructions for setting this: For Internet Explorer
2. Refresh the Hindi page . You should be able to see it now.
